Impact fees, just another set back...

Image
So, the builder that we have been looking at to build our tiny home on wheels now has a program where they are purchasing land and building foundation homes, still very small, but not to be parked in an RV park.  We jumped on this idea.  Then, we were informed that in addition to the land and the home, impact fees would be due not only to the city, but also to the county.  So, that is another $10,000 or so. If you are interested in this kind of home, visit their website at http://cornerstonetinyhomes.com/ .  They build top notch products and they are easy to work with. I love this idea!  This builder is making a huge difference in the Central Florida area.  Kudos to them!  Hopefully, it will be a reality for us very soon.

Meet Jax!

Image
So, we have a new family member...His name is Jax.  He has his first vet appointment this afternoon.  Our neighbor brought him over Saturday afternoon, while I was out getting dinner.  Henry did not want to make the decision alone and waited for me to get home.  However, I was just down the street and he called to tell me all about him.  :)   So, apparently, this little baby was trying to cross 436 unsupervised.  There was no one around with him, so my neighbor's daughter in law brought him to her, of course.  So, once I ate dinner, I rang their doorbell already knowing that we had a new baby.  The vet that they went to said he was a Chihuahua/Terrier mix.  We will get a second opinion tonight.     Then, we introduced him to Jasmine.  They like each other, but he has way too much energy for her, so we have been keeping them separated for the most part.  The cat wants nothing to do with him either, so...

My favorite son

Image
So, my son Matthew had a whirlwind 24 hours going into Cinco de Mayo.  He proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Victoria on the 4th at Lake Eola in Orlando. They are absolutely adorable together and we welcome her into our family with open arms.  Then, the next day, Matt was in a car accident that left him hospitalized for two days with a broken wrist.  The surgeon told us that it was one of the worst breaks he has seen.  The bone actually had eight fractures.  He was able to put two metal plates in to stabilize the bone for healing.  After three months one of the plates will be removed.  This has been very trying for Matt since he works with his hands building sets for different productions around town.  He cannot currently drive, so depression is imminent. For better or worse, right?     They are an adorable couple!

Intermittent Fasting

So, today is my first try at intermittent fasting.  My goal is to get my diabetes under control and to get off all of the medications that I am currently taking. Today, I am doing a water fast, but I did have coffee with creamer this morning.  The protocol states that you can have coffee with half and half or heavy whipping cream.  I didn't have either in the house, so I stuck with what I had.  I am also beginning this while working because I want to stay busy so I don't get hungry. For lunch, I plan to go for a walk. I can do this!

Weight loss

Ok, so...like most people, I have struggled with my weight for the majority of my life.  I have just started reading "the complete guide to fasting".  It is extremely interesting.  I haven't tried fasting before and it seems daunting, but there are so many studies that show how beneficial it truly is.  I can't wait to try it - at least intermittent fasting.  I will report back!

Random

It is really funny, when I read back over my entries in this blog, I see that they are very random.  When I stop to think about that - I can understand why. My life is very random.  I get up, go to work, come home, watch TV, eat dinner, and go to bed, repeat.  Life is full of extremely random events. I guess that is a good thing, but it seems strange.  We are totally creatures of habit, my husband and I.  Both are somewhat introverted; him, more than me.  If I am in a crowd, I always tend to be on the outskirts.  I am extremely pleasant, but will not just walk through a crowd and talk to people.  I'm better in a work situation, then a personal one.  When conversation is about work topics, I feel more comfortable and knowledgeable.  I guess that comes with being on the job for 21 years and also being versatile in that job.  I have always been willing to learn the "whys" of what we do and that has really helped.  I am ...

Judgment

If I had to use a phrase that best describes me I would have to say it is "live and let live". I have always tried really hard to not judge others. I think that I would like to be left alone to make choices that best benefit me, and try to afford that same right to others. It seems that so many people are so worried about what everyone else is doing. This is one reason that I have stopped watching the Celebrity "news" shows, such as Entertainment Tonight and the like. I couldn't care less what those people do, as it has absolutely no bearing on my life, what-so-ever. By the same token, though, I think that no one has the right to judge me. However, this just isn't the case. It seems to me as though many people think it is OK to judge others on all things. I am just trying to get through this life with as little negativity as I can. If this means turning off the news, so be it. I just can't watch shooting after shooting. Now, it seems that pe...

Working out the details

I am so excited! We are preparing for our design meeting for our tiny home. This means that we will really need to get serious about cleaning out our house and downsizing...it is a lot of work, but I think that in the long run it will be so fabulous! We have accumulated so much junk; we are both guilty.  I look at my closet and cannot believe that I have so many pieces that I don't even look at.  I have gone through it several times, but I keep finding more and more that I can donate.  Some of them brand new with the tags still on.  I buy clothing online and sometimes the fit is not exactly right, but of course I keep the item, in hopes that it will fit someday.

We have finally decided

So, after much consideration, we have decided to have a tiny home built. I am just so excited. For now, we will park it in an RV park in the area. It just isn't feasible for me to leave my job now. Maybe in time...
