2019

I have started the year off very well.  My husband and I have been practicing both yoga and meditation.  Prior to this, we were heading to the gym religiously for the previous few months. I have backed off the gym somewhat and have increased my workouts by doing yoga.  We are using DDP Yoga (Diamond Dallas Page's system).  This has been so helpful with my overall stamina and flexibility.  The meditation has been done off and on all throughout last year utilizing the app Headspace.  Last night, we used music from a YouTube video and it was awesome.  I focused on just breathing and the music worked so well with that. I am convinced that 2019 will be my (our) best year yet!

Writing Prompt – Junk drawer

I am a procrastinator, by nature.   So, it is only when things get WAY OUT OF HAND (like the party I went to last night) that I take any sort of corrective action.   This is the predicament that I found myself in while trying to locate the key to my mailbox in our junk drawer.   This is the key that has been assigned to my husband, because (don’t tell him), but I have misplaced mine. His, lives in this drawer and is rarely seen.   My husband does not take an active interest in the mail.   The things that he is expecting are usually delivered to the door by Amazon, UPS, etc., like his last purchase – a bright pink unicorn t-shirt.   You cannot have too many of those! So, as I contemplate either eating my two-day old egg salad sandwich which appears to be dry and crusty, or going out for some Chick-fil-A, I am mustering the motivation to continue to unearth the items in that drawer that range from a skydiving coupon, old newspaper, and a pile of use...

New Year, New Beginning

As you can see, life got in the way this past year.  I am refocusing my attention on writing; even if it is just a blog entry here and there. Henry's Dad is still struggling with illness and immobility, however his Mom has really stepped up and learned how to take care of the daily tasks, freeing Henry up to do his own thing (mainly, take care of me and our household).  Also, in an attempt to help me to realize my life-long dream of writing, Henry bought me a book filled with writing prompts.  Some are pictures, others are phrases, but I will be utilizing this blog to expand on those.  This will create somewhat random posts, but that is how I roll. I hope everyone has a momentous (the good kind) and prosperous New Year!

Sickness

Well, it has been a while since I have posted anything.  We have a family member who had major surgery and now requires substantial care. Henry has basically decided to quit his job in order to provide that care.  The surgery was scheduled for December 22nd, 2017.  Henry and I both came down with the flu that week and could not be there on the day of the surgery.  Luckily, my niece was able to be there.  Henry was not well enough to visit until Christmas Day.  That was a great day.  His Father was alert and in good spirits.  That night, he aspirated and ended up with Pneumonia.  This was a major setback and he didn't really come around for several days. I am happy to report that he is doing better and after a very short stay in a rehab facility, he is home.  The stay was short because Henry did not approve of the care (or lack of) that he was getting.  So, we have made it our responsibility to do better.  Henry has become q...

Impact fees, just another set back...

So, the builder that we have been looking at to build our tiny home on wheels now has a program where they are purchasing land and building foundation homes, still very small, but not to be parked in an RV park.  We jumped on this idea.  Then, we were informed that in addition to the land and the home, impact fees would be due not only to the city, but also to the county.  So, that is another $10,000 or so. If you are interested in this kind of home, visit their website at http://cornerstonetinyhomes.com/ .  They build top notch products and they are easy to work with. I love this idea!  This builder is making a huge difference in the Central Florida area.  Kudos to them!  Hopefully, it will be a reality for us very soon.

Meet Jax!

So, we have a new family member...His name is Jax.  He has his first vet appointment this afternoon.  Our neighbor brought him over Saturday afternoon, while I was out getting dinner.  Henry did not want to make the decision alone and waited for me to get home.  However, I was just down the street and he called to tell me all about him.  :)   So, apparently, this little baby was trying to cross 436 unsupervised.  There was no one around with him, so my neighbor's daughter in law brought him to her, of course.  So, once I ate dinner, I rang their doorbell already knowing that we had a new baby.  The vet that they went to said he was a Chihuahua/Terrier mix.  We will get a second opinion tonight.     Then, we introduced him to Jasmine.  They like each other, but he has way too much energy for her, so we have been keeping them separated for the most part.  The cat wants nothing to do with him either, so...

My favorite son

So, my son Matthew had a whirlwind 24 hours going into Cinco de Mayo.  He proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Victoria on the 4th at Lake Eola in Orlando. They are absolutely adorable together and we welcome her into our family with open arms.  Then, the next day, Matt was in a car accident that left him hospitalized for two days with a broken wrist.  The surgeon told us that it was one of the worst breaks he has seen.  The bone actually had eight fractures.  He was able to put two metal plates in to stabilize the bone for healing.  After three months one of the plates will be removed.  This has been very trying for Matt since he works with his hands building sets for different productions around town.  He cannot currently drive, so depression is imminent. For better or worse, right?     They are an adorable couple!
